Gall crab.
Not a huge amount of information on them. The one i had was actively eating my pavona. I first tried killing with a sewing needle, i ended up resorting to using a drill [emoji23]
Watch them there are multiple species and some are actually beneficial, they can reproduce in aquaria, the female stays in her gall, the male are much smaller and search out a gall to reproduce. Dips will not kill them. Bayer, iodine had not effect.

+1 on the awesome vid, you can see heaps of detail on the little critters. Looks like they are in tubes like a vermetide but don’t have webs like them. Either way...when in doubt, rip it out...which you did.
