Just noticed this thing on my glass. Looks like a starfish that has its tips partially cutoff..

Is this one of those reef tank safe starfish or nah?

Thank you

Asterina starfish, should be ok if you keep nutrients in check. Some people claim they’ve gone after their zoas.

Asterina star.

They can be very prolific in our tanks and some do consider them pests. Others have reported that they can eat corals (zoas and such) I have not had this issue and it has been mentioned ones that are black/blue towards their centers are the ones to worry about.

I do have white ones in all of my reefs with no issues. They appear to eat algae on the rocks/glass and coralline. With that said, if you want the purple stuff everywhere, may be good to remove them as you see them.
