It has a reddish brown color. Caught him on my stag coral that’s been mysteriously losing tissue.

Looks rather like a red Mithrax crab. Related to emerald crabs.

They often eat algae, but ... they're crabs, and most crabs will eat anything.

Maybe he's your new sump-lord?

I thought Chlorodiella had wide claw tips a bit like Mithrax. I don't agree with chucks addiction write up on Xanthidae, some you could risk and some I would happily add. But the truth is you can not trust any true crab.
