HLLE reversal, possible?

My 3 yellow tangs have HLLE for a year. Their fins looks so bad, but they are eating and looks healthy otherwise. All of the fishes are quarantined and prophylacticly treated for 3 month, and I haven't added anything to the tank for almost 2 years.

I feed nori, mysis, spirulina-loaded brine, spirulina pellets, and occasionally other types of frozen foods. The tanks and it's inhabitants look great.

Is there anyway to revers it?

Healing takes time. Are you running charcoal?

I used to. I stopped a year ago, once I recognized the disease. I used to run very very small amount though - 3 cups in a mesh bag for 325g.

Feed high nutritional food like you are doing. Selcon soaked nori and pellets. Keep water quality good is the best way to reverse HLLE. It may never fully heal, just keep doing what your doing.

About a year later I took this photo. He still has a few scars around the eye, but overall looks so much better and seems to have recovered nicely:

Depending on how much damage was done and type of fish some scars are permanent, yellow tangs because of their odd way of displaying it can have permanent pigment loss in some areas. But will be healthy after recovery. Was discussing this with paul b on my local reef club not too long ago. Perhaps try adding some fish livers to your food mix. They are very high in vitamin a which studies have shown help with hlle regression. As well as high palatability.

The tank load is distributed over 2 dedicated GFCI. Tank size is 325g

You mentioned fins looking bad. Any other fish, besides the yellow tangs, that could be damaging them?

A blue tang showing dark spot next to one eye, but very healthy and fat, and bicoloer foxface has his tale a bit shaggy, but very fat and healthy as well.

Blue tangs (assuming regal and not powder) and foxfaces are not bullies, in my experience, especially in a large tank like yours.

Poor conditions is the cause, polluted water, not a variety in diet ect...
Take good vcare of him and his HLLE will recover if it is not severe. If it too severe, the fish health will improve with good care but he may get permanent scars.
