Not sure about the illness, if any. But it looks extremely malnourished. If it's not eating, soak mysis in garlic. If it's is eating, be sure to feed him frequently.

Could very well be the beginning sign of LLE. How long have you had her, how often do you feed, what do you feed?

Strange thing is shes not putting on any weight, theres always nori available in the tank and i see her picking at it alot when im walking past the tank but she still pretty skinny, its a new fish 1 week old in my QT tank currently.

daily feed
1/2 cube mysis mixed with enriched with greens
1/2 cube plain mysis
nori

She doesnt have to much interest in the meaty foods but i feed anyway cause i also have a strip goby in QT with her

Try some pellets too.

Are you treating for parasites as a precaution?

I always use a 30 min formalin dip as they go to qt and another 4 weeks later as they enter display.

I'll throw a few pellets in later see if it helps

Does it pass white stringy poop?

Does it pass white stringy poop?
I’d like to know the answer to this and also if the area is growing noticeably each week or even daily?

Is the redness a legitimate observation? Because if so I’m leaning towards a severe infection requiring immediate treatment with an acriflavine bath followed by treatment of the “trifecta” of antibiotics in qt (kanaplex, metroplex, and furan 2)

So far no stringy poop that I noticed.
Will keep an eye out

I haven't noticed it grow yet but appearance is noticeably pale.

The red gill I noticed happens as the turn to adult so think its possibly that

I have a chocolate mimic tang. Mine eats mysis regularly and nori as well. I only feed it a 1" square once a day and mysis goes in the tank every other day. I will say it was thin when I got it but not that thin. It fattened up in about a month. So it may take yours more than that to fatten it up. It's about 4" now and is only beginning to change colors around the gills and on it's face. It gets quite dark when it's attacking the reflection on the glass though. Pellets are higher concentrated in nutrition, so cross your fingers that it will take them. I hope he starts eating well. They are beautiful fish.

Looking closer at the dark on it's head between the eyes doesn't look like the natural coloring. That looks like a bacterial infection.

Fish died 2 days ago during medication bath. Was probably a bit to much stress for it.

I think if I could If done anything different I would of left it in the current system and carried on feeding whilst it was still eating at least.
