I have a 29 gallon mixed reef and right now I’m using a canister filter. I was just wondering if it would be ok to switch from the canister filter to a HOB filter?

Beyond OK, it's probably preferred. Canisters really get dirty and are a pain to clean when using saltwater. HOB filters are a breeze to clean.

I have a 16g Rock Flower Anemone breeding tank and I only use a HOB filter and a small in-tank skimmer.

Ok perfect! What do you run in your hob?

Since there are only anemones, some sexy shrimp, 5 porcelain crabs and a clump of flame algae, there isn't much to filter out. I use just the sponge and one layer of old filter sock material under the sponge. The filter sock material gets changed every few days and the sponge gets washed out at the same time, but it has very little in it.
