HOB octopus 2000 in a sump?

I have 125 gallon tank with 4 fish and a few anemones and some coral. The tank has been running for 10 months, with little problems, I'm putting in a sump but have already bought and have been using the octopus 2000, my question is, can you put the HOB skimmer on the sump tank? Thanks for any help out there

My thought was, that I might have to extend the intake and outtake pipes, since you don't completely fill the sump, and that would cause it not to work properly

yeah, it depends on the water level in the sump. I have that skimmer on my sumpless reef and in/out only extend to about 4-5 inches.
