Hob overflowbox and mini sump

So I have a small 6 month tank with pretty small space cabinets since they created bookshelf space in between.(https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petco...OshcD8ij5ieE0KM5A4Mimc_0wOlMjxYwaArRmEALw_wcB


I want to do a sump if possible. A micro sump.

I was thinking of getting one of the cube 8-10 gallon box aquariums from petco and putting them in one of the cabinets

After this I would like to run just an insump
Protein skimmer, nothing else

Is this doable?

also how do you send the water inflow back into the tank? Yes you use a return pump but what kind of attachment to return the water?

No reason it wouldn't work, you will just need to make sure your sump is big enough to hold the back flow of water from tank if you have a power outage.. for your return line back to tank they make a HOB return nozzle that makes setting up a sump on established tanks a breeze
