Hi all,

Purchasing an Eshopps overflow and wondering if I should drill a small hole at the top of the u-tube and attatch to a powerhead venturi to maintain siphon? If not, any tips are greatly appreciated. Thank you! (:

They should be able to maintain siphoned as they are since the tube end remains in water.

Wouldn’t drill a hole on I tube. Just make sure no small or micro bubbles are in display because they can make their way into drain, collect and get big enough to break siphon. If flow is great enough this is generally not a problem. The problem is with a single drain, like that, you want to keep flow on lower side to help with noise. Which is why I like tubeless hob design better. They have a backup (hole on top) to remedy the air from gathering, and can safely be run at lower gph which help with noise.

Cpr if my memory serves me. Had it running 3-4 years without aqualifter without issue, then I learned that the nipple on top was for...
I bought that tank used, and the guy I bought it from didn’t know what it was for and didn’t have a problem neither
