Question for everyone who runs the macro aqua m-50 protein skimmer on their tank, do you use the sponge or not? and why i'm thinking about ditching mine and wonder pros vs cons, have not found any discussion on this topic. tia

Does the sponge catch anything? I think there is your answer.

I used that skimmer for short while, I took the sponge off cause it got dirty and would look gross.

But be careful to put the skimmate cup back on tight, that skimmer has tendency to leak or overflow and flood the floor. I took that skimmer down after only one month because it flooded my floor twice. Unfortunately that is not a good skimmer.

usually any sponge on the return of a skimmer is to prevent micro bubbles getting into the display

I recently added this to my aquarium 2 days ago. It was producing foam in the collection cup today consistently after dialing it in a day prior. This evening I fed my fish and a few minutes after that the foam disappeared from the collection cup. I tried adjusting it checked all lines with no signs of clogging. The troubleshooting information stated that that "the quality is good, which will contain no dirt or debris".
Does this mean that the foam doesn't produce again until the water quality gets bad again? I find this very odd was happy with the product so far until this point. Can you help me with this issue?
