I’m looking for a hang on back protein skimmer for my 40 gallon reef tank. Really just something reliable that I wouldn’t have to worry about overflowing, any recommendations?

I just picked up the Aquamaxx 1.5 for my 37 gallon. It’s been running about a month now, and it’s been great. Pulls out a lot and is very quiet, which was the one thing I was worried about since our sofa is 10-15 ft away. I ordered the bubble buster or whatever it’s called, it’s much larger than I expected, you may want to check the dimensions before spending the money on it.

(I had just finished using Chemi-clean a week before, so that may explain the next part, but felt I at least needed to make it part of this post.)
I followed the directions in setting it up, including the rinsing it out, but when I turned the skimmer on, it bubbled like crazy and filled up the cup within 30 seconds to a minute. I had to babysit it for the first hour or so, letting it fill up, shutting the skimmer off, dumping cup and restarting the skimmer. As I did this it it got better and better, until functioning normally.

I have a Reef Octopus hang on the back skimmer, that I might be selling. It’s a reliable skimmer, that I’ve never had a problem with.
