HOB refugium?

Has anyone ever used one of these? I was wondering what the benifits were of this vs a regular HOB filter?

I have used the CPR medium HOB refugium. A regular filter won't really suffice as a good place for macro algae to grow. The only recommendation I can make is building a small 2x4 structure, if possible, for this thing to rest on behind your tank. When they're full, its A LOT of weight hanging off the glass IMO, I wouldn't be surprised to find issues with your tanks seals down the road.

Sorry I didn't get the notification for this. I've always used a regular filter like aqueon with the filter pad. I'm just trying to make my tank cleaner and more natural. Did you like using the CRP?

Yea it works really well IME. Do you run a skimmer or reactor of any sort? You might get more mileage out of those.

CPR does make one with a skimmer. the standard CPR will fit a tunze 9001. I use a hob breeder box for a fuge. if the great growth rate of my macros is any indicator, yes it works.
