Keep an eye on your tank at night, Its a good indicator.
Again, 8 years with scooters and Mandys and Ive never bred pods and rarely buy them.
On the cheap you can look at these. https://www.amazon.com/Marina-Hang-...F8&qid=1494525912&sr=8-1&keywords=breeder+box
That would probably work, but I might need 2-3 of them to house enough population for 125G lol.

I also read that it's best to do them in a 5G bucket away from the aquarium because the water needs to be dirty for successful breeding.

No.......

And some are bred in 2 litre bottles, an easy google.

Believe it or not its much easier than you think.

With that size tank im sure you have reactors and a skimmer , if you have space get a cheato reactor it works wonders and as long as you don't run GFO it will support a great deal of pods

mine is in my sump but it doesn't have to be in a sumo just needs low water flow that could easily be plumbed in.

If interested aquatic warehouse in San Diego has a website they aren't on it but you can surely call and have one shipped the large one is 350 the small is 250

I don't have room for a sump so no reactor or sump, but I do have a HOB classic 2K protein skimmer by Octopus. It does a fine job :)

i forgot to answer you! There isn't a ton of room, but enough to house a classic 2k skimmer (octo), so could easily have one of those back there i think.

Hi saltyfilmfolks,

So the scooter blenney is not as hard to keep as a mandarin? I do expect to get a mandarin some day. You are saying one bottle of copods is enough to feed the tank? How often should i get them? They are like 21.00 for a bottle in my LFS. I figured 'breeding' them would be the cheaper method, especially if i get a mandarin eventually.
Both of mine take bloodworms readily, plus the usual frozen mysis, dried pellets, etc. and I have never offered copepods or amphipods. I even feed them frozen discus food from the freshwater side of things and they do well. I think once you get your scooter accustomed to eating "regular" food you'll be pleased with how easy they are to take care of.

@JaimeAdams do you think it's worth getting one to use as refugium for pods? Also, should i pick up the free swimming pods for 22 bucks today from Wet Pets? i assume i need to get some asap since the blenney is in my tank.

Awesome! So just try feeding him some garlic soaked frozen mysis today?
