I am working on my mothers 55 gallon aquarium.

She has a 300 gph overflow box which I plumbled with 1" hard pvc, included a union and ball valve.

I am struggling to get the return plumbed in an acceptable manner.

We are coming from a Q12200 with flex spa tube. I had to use a rigid adapter on the pump, to a piece of 1" clear tube to get the spa tube to connect. From there it comes up to a ball valve and continues with the spa tube. I had her get a piece from fosters that goes over the edge of the tank, but the problem it it goes to deep in the tank, so if the power goes out her sump can not handle all the water. It also is to wide and doesnt sit well on the edge of the tank, so I would rather not use this piece at all.

So basically looking for suggestions how to go from the flex spa tube into the tank.. be functional, safe and not the biggest eye sore ever.

U can drill a small hole in the return piece just under your water line, this will cause the line to suck air after only a very small amount of water has drained from the tank in case of pump failure for any reason. I would recommend this regardless of what direction u go with deciding to use the piece u have now or not.
