HOB skimmer 1.5 overflow detection...before it hits the floor

My aquamax HOB 1.5 has overflowed one too many times now. I have the collection cup raised as high as I can while still having the overflow tube still inside the machine, and I've added an air valve to combat this.

I used blued painters tape to hold a paper towel diaper hammock thing underneath it, and I've placed an Apex solid surface leak detection sensor in the middle of the diaper.

Is there a more refined solution?

I put mine in the trash. It seemed to work much more reliably that way.

Is it the collection cup that is overflowing? If so put a float valve in the cup to turn the skimmer off before it happens.

Tape or velcro the lid to the collection cup. I also placed tape over the 4 holes on the lid, I've had zero leaks in 3 years.
