I have a 75 gal tank with 1 niger trigger. I am interested in a hob skimmer. Would like to know which one. I plan on adding a eel or a Harlequin tusk maybe later or just may add some corals.

I am not sure a HOB would do the job long term for what you are wanting to do. The tank is not drilled I assume correct?

Yes it is drilled. Just not enough room for skimmer in sump. Only by the way I built the sump was only enough room for a section to drain from tank an return pump. I wasn't sure if I could just add the skimmer in the sump without sectioning it off. If I don't have to section off for the skimmer I would just put it in the sump. I have seen people section off sumps for skimmer then return pump. I just don't have room

Totally recommend the Reef Octopus BH-2000, rated for tanks up to 120g. I run the BH-1000 on my 26g and is rated for tanks up to 75g :) Love love this skimmer! Especially the external pump! Oh and it's quiet :)

+1 on the BH2000. I use one on my 75 reef and it works great!

Are you using an ATO? the main benefit of having the skimmer in a separated section is you avoid microbubbles (although you could put a filter bag over the skimmer return and that will greatly reduce the microbubbles) getting into the DT and for a more constant water level.. You can put a skimmer in the sump without sectioning it off, but I'd highly advise you also than incorporate an Automatic Top Off to off-set evaporation and keep your water levels from fluctuating, thus causing the skimmer to go bananas and impacting the performance of the skimmer.

+2 on the BH 2000. Also another to look at:
EShopps PSK-75H
AquaMaxx HOB-1

I had the eShopps.. I would NOT recommend it! It may have been just a problem with my unit but I had it for 6 months, the neck ended up cracking because the collection cup has to literally be pulled out with force so that you can empty it. Not to mention that if it's full, skim mate goes flying all over so I was having to empty it about half way to prevent spillage..

I had a Aqua C Remora PRO on my 75 for a long time. Really did a great job and with the prefilter box I didn't get any micro bubbles in the tank.

Holy crap, talk about bad experience. WOW.

Also do not get a coralife hob skimmer they are junk imo!

Heard good things about reef octopus hob skimmers thought. I have no direct opinion on it thought.
