would cutting a few slots out of this at the back be a viable option or any other advice? cheers

I would not cut your brace. That could lead to a disaster.

Have you considered a sump?

What about making a sort of lip on the rim of the tank. It would rest on the edge of the tank and the skimmer sits on it.

It could be done cheap with a piece of wood.

It will sit just the black foam pads wont be fully submerged in water. I dont think I have room for a sump I saw this as abit easier way

Only thing I can add is to cut the pipe and extend it so that your pipes are fully submerged.

I'm not taking responsibility, but IME you can cut a little notch so it will fit. Actually I have a couple tanks that have little notches cut out. As long as it's just the lip I don't see a problem.

Ive altered it without cutting the tank so the Inlet is fully submerged and the two outlets will be kind of half submerged is this ok? Or not? Cheers

Usually with HOB Skimmers the pump is supposed to be in a certain depth of water. Is yours working ok? Have you thought about water evaporation?

I haven't set it up yet with eater etc just putting it onto the tank, I read and can't see a minimum depth. Il start running the tank through on Tuesday and see if its all ok

Hope all goes well for you!! Honestly I would try out what Reefing Madness said. Good Luck!!

yeah thankyou reefing madness, you seem to help me out alot! thanks, i will try what ive done now when i get the salt to make the water. i will post a update pic or video here if it does not work i will cut and extend pipes :) or make a sump if worst comes to worst

hi guys after a tedious month of a crappy injury and a severed artery i have finally managed to get it set up and start the 3-6 week cycle, as you know i have some trouble making the skimmer sit right, ive managed to get it to sit on the rim and just wanted your opinion on if it is running right, its been on for about 2days now, cheers

Thankyou! So do you think the skimmer is working correctly? As this is my first time setting one up

Thank you all for your help? I also had live rock that came with the tank how shall I go about cleaning this? As id like to re seed it if possible

Rinse it out and scrub it down, if its dried out. Then just throw it in. If you really want it cleaned up, bleach it out, then cook it in the sun for a week.

Hi, ive boiled the dead rock and then scrubbed and rinsed in ro/di water is this now safe to go into my tank that is in the cycling mode
