I have a reef octopus bh90 skimmer and it is awesome. Im upgrading my tank to a 60 gallon cube from a 30 gallon octagon. new tank will have a sump and i would like to put skimmer in it. Is it possible? Suggestions ?

I'm running my old eshopps hob in the sump of my reefer 250 while I save for the skimmer I want. It been doing fine, skimming nicely.
There was a union on the intake I just left unscrewed. Mine is very similar to this one, is that the one you have? The arrow is where I left the union open

thats it thanks. That is what i was going to try just wondered if anyone else has. Do you have to worry about water level in the sump?

You can make a section of your sump with a constant water level. I didn't do that but I'm sure you can find it on Google!

My skimmer is in a section of the sump that maintains its water level. Does your sump have baffles? There should be a chamber that will have a stable water level..
Hard to tell from the picture, my skimmer may be taller. But I also added a pvc pipe to the water discharge pipe, so there wasnt a waterfall in the sump. I positioned it so the pvc sits on the sponge I have between the return chamber baffles.
