HOB skimmer in sump ?

Soooo I bought a Aqua C Remora prolly about a decade ago when I was gonna use it on a 55 gal no sump. Fast forward 3 apartments, and I'm finally back to starting my first tank. I've been eyeing a Red Sea reefer 250 and was wandering if I could still use it in the sump area ? Have been thinking once I get up and running, about buying a regular skimmer and using the Remora for a quarantine tank later...

PS man has stuff changed since I was originally starting this

Mine is a HOB. Fits on the the sump nice and secure and works great! An added benefit is the sump is less crowded or it frees up real estate for other things.
