I have had a HOB Reef Octopus skimmer and it was great, I forget the model though.

BTW I moved your post into it's own thread to get you more responses.

I've had/used an Eshopps PSK-75H for several years and though would prefer the 100H model still happy with performance on old 75g and now for my QT system.

I've been running the BH-1000 for almost a year. Great skimmer!! Very quiet which is a big plus for me as my recliner sits about 2' from my tank :)
I had a friend make a pre-skimmer box for me. I get great surface skimming this way.

just cut your intake pipe to match your tanks waterline and you can skim off the top of the waterline. all tanks are different this is how you make it work to its peak... then you wont need that other intake box you had made. reef on

Then the BH-1000 it is then. Thanks Nanareefer. Where exactly is ur prebox sitting?

Right top corner. I used 2 mags from an old Korilla power head to attach the box. Makes removing the box for cleaning a breeze. I also modded the intake pipe on the skimmer by cutting away 2" and added an attachment from an old canister filter :)

i would.. but iam not very good trying to load and find a pic.. i cut mine to where my waterline is at the top of intake slots. and this leaves you plenty of room for water evaporation.. sorry i dont have a pic.. reef on
