I like to get same advice about hob protein skimmer for my new 65 gal tank. There is too many of them to choose from,I need something reliable in 250$ price range.
Any recommendation ????????????????

I have the Reef octopus skimmer bh 1000 model it works good. I did just experience a time that it quit skimming, think it got oils in in when I cleaned it.

I haven't had much experience with HOB skimmers, but I did have a Deltec MCE 600 for a while, and it was as good as it gets. I know the price tag is double what you are planning, but sometimes a good deal comes up in the selling forum or on auction sites. The MCE300 is also good, depending on your tank size. Many people in my area go for the AquaC units, but I have no experience with them.

I got same info about 2 good skimmers which one have better pump ??????????????

1 Octopus 1000 Hang-on-the-Back with Surface Skimmer with Pump

2 AquaMaxx HOB1 Series Protein Skimmers (Hang-on-Back)

I'd HIGHLY recommend the SWC MiniHOT. It ROCKS! Silent, pulls out sludge as good as my SWC MiniS Cone or my SWC Xtreme 160. For a HOB skimmer, I don't think it can be beat! Another advantage, at least one of our sponsors, here on R2R, sells this great skimmer, Luke.

Oh and it's MUCH BETTER than the Remora, which is a piece of junk.

another vote here for the octopus HOB, I have a used one I no longer need, PM me if interested

Octopus BH-1000. Pump isn't in the tank, which means no heat transfer and it's hidden. Plus it's much cheaper than the Deltec. Mine works far better than the Remora I had.

+1 to the swc mini or a reef octopus
