Can a 55 gal with a tidal 110 run a reef tank? Planning on doing a sump in about a month or so but will it run smoothly just for that amount of time ?

^ Agreed. The Tidal 110 will definitely work but is probably overkill (being rated for 110 gallons).

Also a powerhead. I may add at some point but the tidal is built to handle a reef tank.

HOB will work good on a reef. I’ve used them on multiple tanks over the years and. Till do in my seahorse tanks.
