hey guys,

Recently lost 90% of my fishstock in my 65g to brook. Tank is currently fishless and im currently planning lifestock for the tank.

Wanted to have some oppinions on fish im currently considering. Its a mixed 65g reef.

Any experience/oppinions on golden dwarf morays, hoevens wrasse and king solomon dottys.

Other lifestock will be a pair of percula clowns, a shrimp/goby and a mandarin and blenny maybe.

Also id like oppinions on sand sifting gobys. I had twospot gobys that i really loved. Got mine to eat and maybe would add them again.

I'm not sure on the dottyback, I've heard P. fridmani (orchid dottyback) called a king dottyback before...

If it is P. fridmani it's an awesome reef fish, even better if its captive bred. If its some other dottyback, odds are its mean as can be.

Hoevens is one of the most popular reef fish and for good reason.

I've never kept an eel, but plenty of info on r2r if you dig.

Seems to be poor translation on my side sorry. Yes fridmani, yes orchid dottyback. Any other dottybacks you could recommend? Ive heard some are troublesome.

Also the hoevens for a 65g should be fine right?

Fridmani dottyback is perhaps the best behaved Pseudochromis species.

A hoevans will be fine in a 65g. However, it is a very effective pod hunter, so I wouldn't recommend a hoevans and a mandarin together in a 65g. The hoevans will outcompete the mandarin for pods.

A golden dwarf moray will be fine.

besides the heavens, any wrasse you would recommend for that size tank? i haven't gone too deep into wrasse but i will avoid the sixline. I would like one that does control pest/small creatures tough or would u say im better off letting the mandarin the job(i wanna keep a mandarin)

Mandarins aren't great at pest control. Any wrasse that eats coral pests will compete with a mandarin in a 65g. Halichoeres chrysus, leucurus, and timorensis are a few other wrasse options though.

Mandarins are a pain unless you have a very healthy and well established copepod population and don't have another fish that uses pods as a big part of it's diet (ie H. Wrasses). As someone who has owned both fish I can tell you the Wrasse delivers FAR MORE bang for buck than my Mandarin did in terms of the amount of expense of care it's visibility and level of activity.
