Hole n head

Hi, Dan - and Welcome to Reef2Reef!

This would probably get more attention from the folks ( @Humblefish ) who have more constructive input if it was posted in the "fish diseases" forum, but for what it's worth, I've heard that a lot of "hole-in-head" or "Head & Lateral Line Erosion" (HLLE) cases are relieved by removing activated carbon from the system. Something about the very fine particles . . .

Hope that helps...

Hi there! Yes low quality activated carbon has been attributed as one of the possible causes for HLLE, along with stray voltage. However, I've seen great results with optimal nutrition and exceptionally clean water. Feed nutritionally packed foods with the addition of vitamin supplements like Selcon- Vitachem and so forth. The damage HLLE causes may never come back to completely normal, but it should heal over and look better- if a little scarred.
