I have this piece of Hollywood Stunner chalice that's starting to bleach. I switched from MH to LED about a month ago and it's been fine. I rearranged the rock work last week and subsequently moved it up about 2". It was fine all last week but yesterday I saw some bleached spots on it and today they've spread quite a bit. It seems to be in the area that gets direct light. I guess my question is this. If I leave it there will it eventually acclimate, spread and fill in the spots? Or will the whole thing eventually bleach?

Last night.

This morning.

I had one that bleached also and eventually died. I think it was a combination of too hight light and too hight ALK. The one I have now is off to the side of my tank so not directly under my LED. I think if you move yours it might be alright but the bleached part should probably be removed.

What was your ALK? I raised mine a couple weeks ago from 7 to 9 over the course of a couple days.

When my first stunner dies my Alk was way to hight like in the 11+ range, so I don't think it's the ALK as much as the light that is the problem with yours.

I did add a Lettuce Nudibranch this past weekend, is there any chance that could be doing it? I didn't think that was a possibility but who knows...?

I would suspect its the light. LEDS are more of a focal point light source then your halide set up. Rearranging you rock work and moving it 2 inches up is all that's needed to put it in a "beam" of light from the led. I would frag it and move it off to the side or in the shade .

Thanks. I've been contemplating removing at least some of the optics on my light just to get better blending of the colors. It's an Evergrow IT2040 over a Biocube 29 HQI so I'm thinking I probably don't need the 90 deg. optics for penetration. I'm running the light at 25% max on the blues and 15% or %20 max on the other colors as it is. The light is about 12" above the glass cover.

OK I pulled the coral and noticed a bunch of tiny bugs running around the bottom of it. They don't look like redbugs, maybe blackbugs but I'm not sure. They look more like yellowish white or clear pods. They move FAST. Here are picks of the top and bottom. I also have a stylo that's bleaching. I have a decent sized piece of setosa that's doing great and it's up near the top of the tank. I'm at a loss...

Forgot to mention, I added about a 1/4 capful of Revive to the water in the pics and it didn't seem to phase the little buggers.

My Hollywood stunner did this too, went from 1inch of growth in a month to dead the next. I fragged the living eyes and they died too everything is WAY within acceptable parameters. Never had much luck with chalices under my LEDs. Following to hear from some chalice junkies!
