Hollywood stunner? If so, why does it grow so slow?

This was a freebie from chaos (rip) 1.5 years ago. Probably not a chalice now that I look at it. What is it? Monti something. Everything in this tank has compounded in size. Acro, monti, lps, zoa's, everything but this. It is directly under a prime 16 hd getting 225 par. It has colored up nicely since it arrived sorta brown from shipping. Is this a candidate for my new tank under Photons around 300-350 par?

On another note from your parameters your phos is low and in my experience nothing good happens at those levels long term. I would recommend range of 0.04-0.1 and perhaps try to increase it with feeding.

I should have looked. Its not a H S for sure. But I still don't have any idea other than "monti"

Agreed. I dont believe you have a Hollywood Stunner. The rim, mouths, texture, and growth pattern don't seem to match. Some sort of chalice, though.

Agree on both points. It's not Hollywood stunner, but it is a chalice and some chalices can grow painstakingly slow which might contribute to the very little grow over the years.

I'd agree. It's a chalice of some sort based on the skeletal structure that is trying to poke through the flesh....(gentle nudge, That coral is not happy out of the water like that)

One of the worst parts of chalices is how slowly they can grow. The stunner being an exception. I'm putting on an inch a month on the HS

I'm not trying to be a smart butt, I truly appreciate the help. But 2 seconds out of the water for the first time since it was bagged 18 months ago isn't gonna kill it? Right? I've seen tanks with entire acro colonies out of the water for several minutes, mine included.

And basically I need to be patient. Am I in the ball park on light intensity?

No, it's not going to kill it. Have you seen a big chalice skeleton? The spikes are extremely pointy. A chalice is a fleshy coral. Acro are not They have an extremely thin layer of skin on the skeleton . In your picture, you can see the skeleton through the flesh really well, which means the flesh is rubbing on the skeleton. As with many corals which have a generally thick layer of flesh, paired with a sharp skeletal structure (such as torches and bubble corals), holding them up for this orientation very well can damage the flesh, leaving it open to bacterial attacks.

I'm totally hit and miss on chalices so not going to pretend to be but @fishguy242 grows some reservoirs

I would assume a lot of corals are out of water for longer during low tide
