Hollywood Stunner or bummer?

Ive had this frag for a maybe 3 months and things just go downhill with it. I don't know if its dead or has any hope of redemption. Its very faded and is brown/red in color but still has the green mouths showing.

I have a hammer and acans and trumpet that's doing great so don't get what the deal is. I have it in the sand. I don' have any metrics out of whack either.

Tank is 20g, 8 moths old.

Any thoughts? Thanks

It isn't dead but definitely isn't doing great. I don't think it needs a lot of light but might be worth moving up off the sand.

Chalice are very low light corals. I’d move it to a shaded area and see if it recovers after a month

My son's likes it about mid-way up in the tank.

I have mine midway up in a shaded area. It has grown from the size of a dime to cover a whole 2 inch plug now.

180 par, medium flow. Started from a nickel size a few months ago.

I worry about mine growing. It already unleashes sweeper tentacle hell at night.

Yea they are crazy. I’ve found by fragging decent size pieces out of it make it just mad enough to not have long sweepers out for almost 2 months after I do that. This thing just grows way to fast, I’m not allowed to take frags of it to my LFS anymore

. Looking for a new reefer sometime I could “gift” it to.

How long have you seen the tentacles get. Mine is only 2 inches but puts out like 3-4 inch sweepers.

Huge, 8 inches +. It demolished that green slimer that you see in the pic, it’s slowly regrown but it got tagged by sweepers really bad about 3 months ago.

I would take it off the sand soon like the others said. This really doesn't relate to this thread but I think the whole sand light acclamation trick actually irritates some corals that don't belong there, like your chalice.

I'll bring it up off the sand in a more shaded area, I originally had it further up the tank but it started fading and looking wierd so I put it back on the sand.

Got it from WWC, yes it used to look like a hollywood stunner back when I got it...

I'm just gonna say that WWC knows what they are doing but you probably paid way too much for this. Just curious how much did they charge you for this frag?
