Holy Mess.... Mindstream

Do you know if they were actually handing them out when purchased? I ask because I just received an email stating I will get a discount because production is a week behind. Now if they did bring an inventory to MACNA I am now wondering if that is why I am not receiving mine on time.

Zero inventory at MACNA. Just someone trying to get you to place the order on his computer lol. Still 6-8 weeks.

Sketchy? Sort of, in my opinion.

Not sure. I know they are a bit behind 6-8 weeks. But since you already order. Also you dont need to order at their booth to get discount. They let you go home and order before 9/2 to get discount. They added snail guard and use special plastic that dont grow algae on the unit... alot of R&D and real world testing for 5+ years

Wondering if I should purchace the Mindstream as there isn’t much proof it works well yet...
Is there a valid discount code?

I do not think people should complain about the upfront cost of the Mindstream when you're looking at other monitoring devices like the ReefBot ($900), KH Director/Doser ($800), Alkatronic ($900), Trident/with Apex ($600/$1100).

I have the ReefBot and I have used the KH Director. Both require maintenance and are not systems that I can rely on 100% when I am away, especially the KH Director. I have to assume users of the Trident would have issues as well being that it relies on reagents.

Thanks.

To be honest, looking at it this way, these are all somewhat similar, though mindstream ostensibly has the least visible "rationale" for the price. (small device+small puck-like thing as the consumable)

KH guardian monitor (the alternative I'm thinking about the most*) is $500 upfront from coralvue, plus $35 per reagent packet (lasts nominally 45 days). So the cost is basically 1/2 the up front cost, 2/3 the monthly cost. (compared to $1000 up front and $35/month for the Mindstream)

Trident is $600 upfront; $45 per two months, IIRC. So about 2/3 the cost of the Mindstream.

Assuming they all these were available right now without any teething troubles, thinking about it now, the Mindstream is not a very odd choice because it seems to be by far the smallest, simplest, and requires the least maintenance.

* this has been available for several years and I've seen, very openly, it go through minor teething and product improvement changes. My mom and wife are both from Taiwan so I understand the business side of the Taiwanese designer/manufacturer and am perfectly comfortable working with them via the facebook page when necessary.

I read 2 folks ordered July 1 and still nothing. My guess they are way way behind just like trident. Only difference your paying ahead to be put in line.

They posted a 45 day money back guarantee on their website.

Ugggg. I just ordered assuming 8 weeks and I think your right. I paid ahead with no product and in line.

Yea I order july 1st also still cant get date when it will ship. Even after emailing them.

I decided to wait it out for a while, sounds fishy. If they are getting these out every 6-8 weeks, where are all the people who got the units talking about how great it is??? Maybe not many units have been delivered so far at all. Just collecting money to move forward. Even with Triton going out at a snails pace you can read from many people how it’s going. The only person I have seen talk about their unit is Meleevs reef who got it free to beta test.

I don't get why people are upset about the subscription. You need to purchase reagents for other monitors...what's the difference? One gets sent to you automatically (subscription) the others you need to remember to order yourself. Trident reagents may cost less per month, but it doesn't test for as many things.
This is what I have been thinking. We have a trident so I don’t have an immediate need for Mindstream But I don’t understand why people get so worked up about the subscription. If you don’t buy the subscription and change the disks then nothing won’t work anymore. Neither will the Trident if you don’t buy more reagent so what am I missing?

Several well known people on here have it and have been posting about it. It sounds like it works flawlessly and they couldn’t be happier.

How much are the replacement discs? I didn’t see it on there web site. So 995.00, pulse 35.00, and then I’m assuming the discs are probably 50+. Also they are recommending that they be replaced monthly.

The DISCS are included in the subscription lol:). (thats what the subscription is for - + cloud access/storage

I was interested at first, then I learned about their subscription plan and it is putting me away. I am going to stick with a Trident for the next build.

Doesnt Trident have a subscription model? Of course its not called that - but being required to buy reagents every couple months - and a yearly maintenence fee is a subscription - o

I ordered July 1, my unit ships this week. I think 6-8 weeks is a pretty good estimate going forward.
Have you got a tracking # or anything saying it has shipped? I tried calling yesterday an today with no response.

Shortly after that post they sent me an email stating it would ship when ready, and they didn’t know when that was. I asked again three weeks ago and they said third week of October. I expect it won’t be in October either.

Oof, but I really appreciate you being honest about the experience!

When did the first ones go out? I'm curious if they've been out long enough where subscription discs will have shipped, and if so, if the delivery process is better there.
