Anyone try the two-part epoxy from Home Depot and Lowe's. They look exactly the same as the stuff made for aquariums. Wonder if the chemical makeup is the same.

Are you talking about the white epoxy in the tube. If so that’s what I use along with gel super glue for my corals. No issues at all.

If you are taking about the sticks that you kneed together. I work where they make the stuff they make jb weld all the chemists that make 2 part epoxy tell me they would have a hard time ever thinking any of the 2 parts are aquarium safe. The products are made with many many other 2 part epoxy. Some of the sticks like quick copper 2 part epoxy have copper flaking in it. Other sticks have other metals. The cured 2 part is safest is what I was told but most definitely any uncured is a bad idea. I know that it is used in aquariums all the time but I read the formulas thinking I would never put that in my tank. I can get it for free and never use it if that helps. I cant show you formulas or tell you them because I will go to jail so you just have to believe me none of the ingredients are very good.

JB waterweld is pretty much proven reef safe at this point if that is what you are getting at. I have not seen any white label epoxies at either of those stores.

Started using this 30 years ago. Before it was a thing.
