Has anyone tried swapping the diodes out on these newer gen bulbs for maybe a 15 or 20w chip from eBay? Curious as to what amperage/voltage these run considering the 120w equivalent uses 14-15w

I honestly think it wouldn't be worth it. (GASP! I said modding something wouldn't be worth it!)

By the time you bought the light, the leds and took the time to mod it, you could have bought par38s already done from amazon for the same price.

Just my .02

I subscribed just to see where this goes.

True. I didn’t realize that PAR 38s are so cheap now, but I think having all the diodes on one chip and the diffuser from the original light itself could give a stronger and more blended light.

It's entirely possible. I have stated many times that I probably spend more on some DIY projects than just buying. But, to me, a lot of the time it's so much fun building, I don't care.
