Is the 50# bag of Home Depot mag chloride safe to use for my DIY 2 part. If yes, is the recipe 5 cups of mag chloride and 3 cups of epsom salt per gallon of RODI.

That is the recipe only if you are using a DIY two part of calcium chloride and baking soda.

If you are using something else for calcium and alkalinity, then the ratio is different.

I do not know if the Home Depot product is OK. What brand is it?

Trying to make a mag supplement not cal.I don't know how to post a link. The bag just says mag chloride and has a snowflake on it. No brand name.

Just copy the link and paste it into your post. :)

To be clear, if it is the magnesium supplement that is used in conjunction with a DIY two part, then that is the ratio (5:3)

But if you use some other method (not a DIY two part) to supplement calcium and alkalintiy (such as a CaCO3/CO2 reactor, limewater, or a commercial two part like B-ionic), then the optimal ratio of the two ingredients for a stand alone magnesuum supplement is quite different, about 10:1.

(Just copy the link and paste it into your post) Thats what I don't know how to do. The mag would be used in conjunction with the BRS Cal and Alk. I just thought if it was safe to use I'd make a gallon and use the rest of the Mag on my steps and sidewalks. Thank You! for your time.

Yes, but without more detail, we cannot determine if it is safe.

In fact, if it is not MAG flake from the Dead Sea Works, I would look for a different supplier as that is the only brand that I have seen analysis of.
