Home heat went out need advice. New fish!

So our him heat went out last night, new home so we have to go with the warranty company and they are super slow. Here is my problem. I was putting my existing clowns and watchman through ttm as they weren’t qt originally and just wanted to be safe. I also have a new foxface and 2 wheelers gobies in qt for observation and was going to get them through ttm next. The qt and ttm tanks are starting to drop temp due to the home temp. My display is also starting to drop and that has mixed corals. I am thinking of just dumping everything into the display and putting existing heaters in qt and ttm tanks in the display for it to hold the next few days. I can’t go get anymore heaters, not an option at this point.

What are your thoughts?

Out here in rural Oregon we experience lots of power outages. I've used sleeping bags wrapped around and on top of the tanks to keep everything warm as the house got pretty darn cold.

Either a cheapie heater at Walmart or even hand warmers taped to the glass until heat restored

Make sure the powerheads aren't causing the water surface to be turbulent as that will cause evaporation and drop the temp even more, +1 on the sleeping bags or blankets.

How do you mean the heat went out, I do commercial and industrial HVACR work, maybe I can help you get it up and running, elec or gas heat, up their I'm guessing gas, does it come on and flame out, does is try to come on, does it have an elec ignitor or does it have a pilot light, it should have an elec ignitor, does it try and spark up and times out?

Depending on the symptoms you can cycle power on the blower assy and maybe reset the alarm lock outs.

Called to all the local LFS and idk how but everyone is out. Closest big pet store is an hour away.

I decided to go against what I wanted to do and put the fish back in the display and the new guys in there so I could use those heaters. I may have to run to the big store and get a large heater for backups like this. Put a space heater pointed at the sump area.

Hey @Billldg ita the inducer motor. We moved into a home with a 25 year old furnace. The motor has locked up and won’t turn anymore. We are dealing with the home warranty company and they are sure taking their sweet time. Filed the claim on Jan 4.

Gotcha, without the inducer motor it will now work, that's one reason why I got into this line of work, hated paying someone to do something I could do myself. After putting your fish back you can always pull them back out and do an observation on the fish and go fishless on the tank if you are concerned, hopefully everything will work out for the best. If you are not feeding live foods you might do that for a few weeks to start. The fish will be healthier for it and if they do have some thing perhaps they can fight it off. Since they are in the display if they have any disease it will now be in the display. Also if you have a UV this can help control some diseases in their free floating form.

You could always heat up some water bottles and float them

Thanks @lapin. I feed frozen pe mysis and started feeding the foxface algae. I did observe the foxface and 2 wheelers for 3 days, wanted to go longer but they all ate and looked healthy. They also came from divers den and I know they usually make sure they send healthy fish, fingers crossed. My clowns awhile back I thought had ich from a royal gramma that went missing 3 days into the tank. That’s why I was trying to do ttm but they haven’t showed signs of any spots for over a month and the yellow watchman goby I had never showed signs of anything and all 3 are very well.

@Billldg that would be a pain as my rock work is pretty extensive, would prob have to pull it all. Just crossing my fingers and hoping for the best.

I did run to petsmart and grabbed a 300w heater and just put it in the tank. The smaller heaters weren’t cutting it.
