Home made frag rack

I just super glued pvc pipes on egg crate. Was pretty simple. Just be sure to put enough pvc legs so that the weight can be evenly distributed. You can just put pieces of live rock around the egg crate in the beginning to help add weight to keep your diy frag rack down. Eventually when you add more and more frag plugs that'll add weight.

That light will easily grow sps directly under the light.

I agree I kept a 30 gallon reef but it was a cube (2') wide and had a tek light over it and it grew everything fine. Actually low light corals had a problem...

The one thing about tek is make sure the reflectors are in good shape. Allot of people ran them with out the shields and damaged the reflector.

When I had a frag tank I used zip ties to hold the rack together.

Here are two I made with acrylic and threaded nylon rod. I wanted to stay away from eggcrate because I think it ends up looking crappy after a while.

The acrylic is from lowes. 1/4" rough cut to size by them, drilled by me. Look below for the rods

LOL That looks awesome. Love that look over eggcrate.

Thanks Joey

Got the threaded rod and hex nuts from McMaster Carr.

Looks even better when its covered in corriline. These pics were taken right after they were put into service

BTW got all the stuff for the frag rack and will start it tmrw!

a jigsaw with a fine tooth bkade will cut the 1/4" acrylic fine. ive done it. it has tendency to melt the shreds so sometimes you have to pass through it again. its easy and leaves a clean edge with a little practice.

I found that out later.

what would one use to cut and drill it?

For the holes just use a drill. Go slow so it doesn't chip out underneath. Clamping it down on a piece of scrap wood helped also. As stated above it tends to melt as its being cut. This happens when drilling also. A second pass after the shred dries makes a nice clean cut. I did it by hand a drill press would have been welcomed though.
