Maybe not the biggest emergency but I do need some urgent advice on what to do with these critters. I ordered some marinepure blocks and Copepods for my new refugium a week ago. The blocks are supposed to be here today but won't arrive until later. The Copepods just showed up at my door and I don't currently have any home for them and won't until the blocks get here. The blocks should have been here yesterday, I even paid for expedited shipping but it didn't happen.

What's the best thing to do for the pods now? Shut off the return pump and dump them in the empty fuge? Dump them in my DT and hope for the best? They were 2 day shipped so they've already been in the box for a while.

I feel silly posting under the emergency forum but I know you usually have to act fast with shipped critters. Any advice would be very appreciated!

Tigger pods can go in the refrigerator. Open the lid of the bottle. They will keep for a few weeks.
Tisbe pods are probably fine for a few days. I’d open the bottle and let them sit somewhere room temp. I would probably feed them a tiny bit of phyto.

What kind of pods and where did you purchase from?

I got a bag of Tisbe and a separate bag of Apocyclops pods, they're from AlgaGen.

If you have a strainer bowl and a bunch of rock rubble you could place that in your fuge as a temp home for the pods.

I think they pack their pods with a little phyto already as I recall. I’d probably just open the bags and get some air in there and set them somewhere safe. Alternatively, you could house them temporarily in a bucket or a plastic container with some fresh saltwater (especially if worried about the bags falling over). No heater is needed for either of those.

I do not unfortunately. I keep meaning to pick up a strainer, they're good for so many things. Thanks for the tip though!

I stuck them in a bucket and they're being acclimated with tank water. Hopefully UPS gets here with their house sooner rather than later. Thanks a bunch for the advice!
