My understanding from doing research on the forum is that I can use 0.1N HCL for my KH Director reagent.

I have found 1 Gallon of Muratic Acid (which I understand is HCL) locally and wanted to see if I can use this.

Further reading has given me this formula to convert from %HCL to N, is it correct?

Product is 31.45% HCL or 31.45 g HCL in 100 ml solution.
So in 1000ml, we’d have 314.5g HCL.

Normality of the solution is Mass/Eq. Mass or 314.5/36.5 = 8.6 N

So to get to a 0.1N solution:
1000 * 0.1 / 8.6 = 11.6

So I’d add:
RODI: 988.4 ml
Acid: 11.6 ml

Is that correct? Any issues with this plan. Seems like this 1 gallon will provide enough reagent to last me, my kids, and maybe even grandkids needs.

Thanks,
-Chris

Problem is that it's unlikely to be exactly that concentration because nobody uses it for a titration purpose. So you'd need another known standard to measure your dilution against.
Might as well just get a liter of 1.00N from hanna or hach.
