My wife and I are starting a study on marine biology. What better way to learn about these fascinating creatures a than to start a reef. Our new Red Sea E260 has just arrived!! We have it set up and filled and just received our first shipment of "the package" from Tampa Bay Saltwater. Richard was easy to work with and communicated effectively through the process. This first shipment already over exceeded our expectations. The sand alone had starfish, crabs and an urchin. The base rock is covered in orange, blue, yellow and red sponge. Super pumped to see this baby unfold. Pics of the aquascape on the way as we get it dialed in.

Welcome to R2R, very nice set up.:)

What a magnificent purpose!

I don't homeschool, but my granddaughter enjoys watching the fish, learning about invertebrates, even the physics of plumbing and the chemistry of water tests. It's a grand gateway . . .

Yes, we homeschool all of them.... I never thought just adding the liverock and sand could be such a learning experience. TBS rocks! This stuff is worth the dough!

Love it! Homeschooled our daughter as well.

A quick suggestion. I got some live rock from the Gulf a few years back and little did I know there were tons of tiny gorilla crabs on it. Within no time I started noticing chucks of my coral missing. I figured it out and started pulling rocks out to rinse them and hopefully get the gorilla crabs off, but I already had corals starting to attach to the rock and I had to be careful. I lost the battle with the gorilla crabs and had to take the tank down completely and start over.

I'm not trying to scare you and it wasn't Tampa Bay that I used, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

Looking at their website they do have gorilla crab listed as an inhabitant found in their catalog of organisms. edit: Still checking out "The Package" and they even have a section of what to look out for and how to get the bad hitchhikers out of the tank.

Is this a package deal they do?

I was wondering the same thing. Just went to their website and it is a deal they do, called "The Package". It's a cool deal for sure.

Can't wait to see this all come together. I would say consider us students in your class. Teachers may need a raise!

Yeah I just saw that once my phone stopped being stupid! Seems like a good deal. I'll be looking into it soon

Yes the package deal is sweet! Round 2 coming next week with the rest of the rock and whole bunch of other crazy madness. Round 2 updates next week with pics. Clean up crew, sand, rock etc... they do warn against unwanted hitch hikers but so far so good.

do you have an idea of what fish you'll be stocking your tank with?

So.... there's a clicking sound. We definitely have a mantis shrimp. Do they also make the clicking noise like a pistol? Traps are set to remove this thing. Should we be worried about him?
