Honest review on AI Nero 5 pump please

My pp8 finally gave up the ghost after 3 years of faithful service. Can someone give me an honest opinion on the Nero 5 or 3? It’s going to be a single in a 65 gallon

Do the 5, I have a 3 in a 13.5 and it’s awesome.

+1 on the 3 in a WB20 cube. Plenty of flow and then some. Pretty quiet and easy to program and control.

I run two Nero 5s along with two Jeboa OW-25s on a 73 gallon tank.

Nero pros:
Wide flow
Easy to program
Small form factor
Good flow 3000 gph
Quiet

Cons:
App drops connection every time
Can’t angle the unit very much
Can’t slow flow to less than approx. 900 gph

The Nero has many positives and I do like them but for the price i prefer the Jeboa OW or SOW series.

Did you install a 2nd on your WB 20? Any thoughts? I'm considering 2 on a 20 as well...but I've never tried nero, coming from 2 MP10s...

EDIT: 2 MP10s on the opposite sides of tank, to utilize anti-sync. I'd like to place the Nero (or two) on the backwall, I have an AIO 20 IM dropoff. How about any battery backup solutions? I read on R2R the new ICECAP v3 no longer works with Nero 5, any further thoughts appreciated!

i couldn’t figure out the anti synch. i have them in opposite sides of the tank with random flow. i got an icecap bc i read here that it does support the nero i just haven’t had the time to install it. someone uploaded a video proving it works

It's clean and powerful with some bells and whistles for random modes but the lack of being able to angle it really is annoying.

My Sicce is more user friendly in that regard.

Have the 5, great pump, but make sure you have the fish guard. Killed my mandarin and Firefish. Easy to use and customizable also very easy to clean
