yes that is truly dis heartning my best wishs go out to the lfs i hope they catch these vandals and send them to prison

What's truly terrible is this has happened several times throughout the country in the last few years.

What I don't get is that they are saying $40,000 is an inflated estimate for their loss... their are chalice frags going for $1,000 all over the place on the net and I know I've spent more than a grand or 2 just in my 12 gal, time invested in finding, ordering, acclimation, care and upkeep, not to mention the initial setup of the system, all of that costs a business money. then you have the cost of the coral on top of all of that... and I'm guessing they didn't just have this one tank pictured to choose coral from, as I've never been in a single lfs regardless of how big or small that only had one coral holding tank. I would say 40,000 isn't enough when u really break it down.

^^+1^^ as well as if the copper absorbed into the silicone it couldn't be used again because it would leach out. So now the tank is done for, at least with saltwater.

The local newscast reports the destroyed livestock was valued up to $40,000, although I suspect this value is inflated for sensationalism. I think the people need to do a little homework before posting comments like this. Anyway, I am just sick that people would do something so horrible!!

I saw this one a little while ago, sounds like some crazy guy, but likely an ex employee or a competing business. Defenitely not the way to beat a competitor if it is the latter.

So long as you catch it quickly you can add a resin or a polypad and reduce the long term effects, however short term isn't looking good. 40 grand in wild coral is a lot, aquacultured it could easily fit in a 20g frag tank with today's pricing. Upset customers seem to be the culprit most of the time, usually younger men
