Hooking up RODI directly to water line

Wanting to hook up my RODI directly to my water line. Not really sure how to go about it though, anybody have knowledge on this?

I have mine under the stairs. Actually i have two systems hooked up to the cold water inlet to the hot water tank. I just turned the water main off, soldered in a tee, put a valve on it. Viola!!!!!

I had a plumber install the ball valve shutoff along with second shutoff with the threaded end. I attached the fitting that accepted the 1/4" line from the RO/DI system I purchased from BRS. This is tapped from the cold water supply to my water heater.
 
I use faucet adapter in laundry room but you can also use piercing valve that makes it super easy to reach and access water.

Still need a booster pump by the way. I am running two RODI's so maybe that is why.
 
Stay away from those piercing valves. They do not seal well and after the lime ,calcium hard water which most of us have start to corrode the valve you have leaky mess. Then you will have to cut the line and solder in a couplet, tee etc... to make repair. Just solder in a tee and use a valve to save the mess and headache later..
 
Lots of great examples here! Everyone's access seems a bit unique and you can adapt to the hand you were dealt in most cases. If your comfort level includes soldering copper or glueing pvc or learning it the sky is your limit. You can easily employ a plumber as well if you don't want to tackle the risks as well. However you do it, just T off any cold water supply line nearest to the area you want to work with your water. I put in this valve and then added the throw adapter on to control water to the ro unit.

Yes I agree here with the majority.

If you have the knowhow put a T on the cold water line of your water heater to a BALL valve and then to the RO/DI

Ball valves are the only way to go.
You want it so you can shut the system down without shutting down the house.
 
Maybe a little different as I’m in the UK but I decided to house my RO unit outside in a heated, insulated box so I drilled through the external wall, fitted an outside tap which connects under the sink and used pressure fittings on the pipe work and shut off valve so there’s no soldering required. Gained an outside tap and sorted the RO unit supply at the same time. The RO pipe work screws to a Y adapter which in turn screws on to the tap.

Use SharkBite connectors, no need to solder. all you need is a pipe cutter and push them on. That's what a plumber will do any way.

I agree with this. Soldering is becoming less common. A $5 shark but fitting is much easier and than learning to solder properly. And just as leak proof
