A week or two ago I posted about this hair algae problem I was experiencing in my 32 gallon biocube. One of you suggested geting a turbo snail. I got three small ones and noticed no improvement whatsoever. My SO and I scrubbed the rocks over the weekend and did yet another 5 gallon water change. The hair was more than one inch long at this point. After the cleaning, it started growing back super fast. Tonight we picked up a few more turbo snails to see if we needed more. If you can see in the picture, the snail on the center bottom rock is going to town on the algae! I'm hoping these guys will fix our problem. We also got a serpent star (ick!) But should help with the algae on the sand.

Turbo snails are great at helping maintain a clean tank. How about hermits, do you have any blue legs or scarlets? Another thing to look at is nutrient control, like not over feeding the tank and regular water changes. These should help you maintain and control the algae. GL

Thanks! We have 2 scarlets right now. We've had a total of 8, but they keep dying :( Not all at once, but one here and there. We also have a cerith snail, a few nassarius snails, and some astraea snails. We are working really hard not to over feed!
