Hey guys. This just sprouted up on my rock and has exploded in my sump. Tank is new (6 months old). Just battled dinos and things have been clear a few weeks now. But now this….. any help is appreciated.

Looks like a small pineapple sponge. Harmless filter feeder.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Oh good. I was Hoping it wasn’t a Aiptasia type pest. But from what I’m reading they likely came when I jacked up my phosphates to help fight the dinos, which came because my phosphates bottomed out. I also added a couple pieces of dry rock in the sump to add silicates for the dino war. So that all makes sense.

I just found this so I’m presuming it’s the same sponge.

Thanks for the help fellas. I’m new to the salt world. Spent 30 years in freshwater, so this is all new to me. Whole new learning curve….
