Accidentally crushed some zoa polyps with my fingers while removing a frag from the plug. Hopefully I don't need the doctor with houston at capacity

I've read that the palytoxin works pretty quickly... if you aren't throwing up and turning green yet and have the ability to write this post. You probably are okay... unless this is happening from the ER![]()

If they wernt green button polyps you'll be fine.
Also it seems to affect people differently.
Ive smooshed plenty of people eater palys with no reactivity issues in the past.
Honestly i only wear gloves to protect my reef from me and whatever is on my skin.
I had some green button polyps that I had to manually remove from a rock... I was honestly scared AF, but no negative side effects. To be fair it was like four individual polyps that had somehow jumped off of their island to my main rock structure, but still I've heard nothing but bad things about them, and I didn't know what I was getting when they were offered for free from another local hobbyist. If they wernt green button polyps you'll be fine.

They were called the green death.
I cant confirm or deny this story and it may have been told by my old LFS buddy after a glass of scotch and a few beers![]()
Hey! Another houstonian! Yeah ik we’re crazy right now with the virus... I’ve been fragging zoas/palys for months now with zero protective equipment (yes it’s dumb but my family is forcing me to give up my gloves/masks so we can go grocery shopping, which is fair. It’s hard to get PPE nowadays) so far, no bad side effects at all. Touching, cutting, gluing, messing with, the whole nine yards and no bad side effects. Everybody is different, maybe I’m just lucky and am resistant to the toxins but seems okay to me!

I’m gonna try, hopefully it’s not cancelled or anything cause of the new corona wave. You have a marsh account?
Greetings fellow Houstonian! I’ve read that same thing about the toxin being used on arrow heads...scary stuff! I really wish better education was provided about this from stores that sell coral. Although we’re not likely to die from it, it’s scary to be googling coral at 2am and run across this info by chance! Yeah...I didn’t sleep well after reading that! Lol Stay well & safe!Honestly that's a really cool fact haha
