I had to externally place my protein skimmer next to my tank and for the pipe returning under my tank to my return compartment l. The water flowing into my skimmer compartment is an inch above the return back underneath it. I want to know how to make this drain quiet and efficient back to my return under my tank

Just run the pipe under water, using a 45 degree elbow.

Yeah, plumb an extension into your water, just about halfway into it. The is will help minimize splashing too. Another idea is to have a sponge or something similar that absorbs the bubbles and keeps them localized sort of like the Coralife skimmers as their bubble catchers.
