Foods and Feeding - Varied diet of marine meaty foods, fresh shrimp, scallop, marine fish flesh, specially prepared frozen foods for sharks. Feed to satiation 3 times a week
Reef Compatibility - No. Will eat crustaceans and small fish. May topple coral and rocks not securely attached.
Captive Care - At first this shark can be somewhat difficult to acclimate to aquarium life. Squid or other pungent foods should be offered to the shark to entice eating. Once adapted they are voracious eaters. This shark will flip large rocks and decor in search of food. Provide a sandy substrate with rocky overhangs for hiding. Horn sharks are naturally nocturnal feeders but will accept food in daylight hours. Be careful of the horn sharks spine on the front of its dorsal fin as it can cause injury. Though the horn shark is somewhat slow moving it will eat any fish small enough to fit in its mouth, especially during lights out. Never expose to copper based medications.
