These were called one thing when I bought them, but some seem to think they are something else. IMO, they contain attributes of both "kinds" of hornets. As you can see, this has alternating purple and yellow skirt, and is actually more purple than blue (color is more true in the second pic), however, the whitish/blue center seems to say otherwise.

So....what should I call these?

Blue Hornet. The blue hornets have the white solid circle inside the ring. The purple hornets do not have this. Both have alternating skirts.

Here are the Purple Hornets

i would say blue, due to how bog the mouth is.

The BH has the interior of the oral disc all white like yours.

The PH is all purple in there like this

That looks like the Lemon Drop. Purple Hornets Have a gold ring not a green ring. It's what I have been told anyways.

Its a bad picture. They're PH's.

Then the seller needs to revise his Sale thread, since I purchased them as PH's a few weeks ago, and he has more up for sale currently as PH's.

Blue Hornets, I could be wrong but I think they are also called Black Hole Suns, unless somebody else can tell me the difference between suns and blues. I saw that recent for sale thread also but figured I'd keep quiet this time.

thanks:)..that was an old pic...they have grown more(and have fragged the big colony a few times:D)..i dont know if they are magicians, the small frag actually a bit different than the big colony...the ones in the frag is more reddish pinkish color with silver (bluish?) glitters then the big colony has light greenish glitters...i bought the big colony as wild caught..never had problems with them always open...

I already changed the name of the thread, If you look at the top of the first post it says blue hornets, it just didnt change it on the outside for some reason. When I got these they were sold to me as purple hornets, They are PURPLE no blue, so why call them blue hornets? Not scamming anyone here, So are Purple people eaters actually blue people eaters? Im just calling them hornets from now on, this blue purple thing is quite annoying

Doesn't lighting effect the way they look just like with all other zoos? If I keep AOG under low light they fade out and look light pink/violet, whereas under 400w light they are ultra metallic pink. So couldn't a true PH have a light blue mouth under different lights??

well the eye is white, so I guess i have white hornets...But i do look forward to picking up those VDM from you at the cora swap aerius

I never said you were scamming people, I apologize if that is how it sounded, I just wanted everyone's opinion. I personally like my "blue hornet" more than the original purple because of the white eye. It looks exactly like it otherwise.

Also if I ever frag these and sell them, I want to know whether to charge $25/polyp or $75/polyp

I don't see why one is less and one is more - they are both the same except the center - lol

Its probably because all of the vendors that wanted to get greedy and go off the hornet name and started selling the Caribbean Melters as blue hornets.

Definetely identical polyps except for the purple and white centers.
