Just picked up a tiny one at my lfs. What can I expect with this guy?

I imagine it will eat everything in your sand bed and then perish.

He should be ok if you have a decent sized tank, but you will never ever see him, and he will knock over your rocks if they aren't secure

Don't forget their shell not including tail can get about 12" accross

Not to mention they walk miles everyday. So better left in the ocean.

I had one that disappeared in the sand bed for 5 months. I spatter feeding reef pearls and he came out. And swam around the tank bumping into the corals so I caught him and took him back. They prefer cooler waters than what we keep in our tanks so they are probably best left in the ocean. Sorry

I have a small one in my tank ( see my pic) it's a funny little creature. believe it or not I see him quite a bit. He sort of just cruses around the sand bed bumping into there rock. He is in a 220 gallon tank so there's plenty of sand and room for him. They do get quite large and I know I will be parting ways with him some day but we will enjoy him for now. 1 thing you need to know though is there blood contains copper so if you have coral that's something you have to keep in mind. I just keep an eye out for him everyday so that there is no question about him hurting anything in the tank if he dies. Hopefully that won't happen. Good luck
