Mine does the same thing in the early morning hours. They eat any organic matter in the sand bed.

55g and I read they don't get as big when there in captivity

lol best of luck with it, so far everyone I know who has had one always has to rehome it or get rid of it due to size.

I love when people believe "they don't get large in captivity, only in the wild". It's such a load of bs, and infuriatingly leads to many people trying to re-home a large animal with very low success.

Horseshoe crabs generally get too big, knock over corals frags and starve to death in captivity.

They're best enjoyed while snorkeling in Florida. :wink:

Well thanks for making me feel stupid. I really didn't know. I was just going off what the guy at the pet store said. When it gets to big ill rehome it. Well at least try.

Not trying to make you feel bad. We all learn lessons from one another.

Our lesson today; plan livestock prior to buying.

I've been guilty before. I now know what I'm going to be homing before I buy. Research, sometimes for quite awhile, before.

Impulse buying, especially corals can lead to disaster.

Trust me, I want everything I see.

I would try to rehome it now. It is going to strip your sandbed of all life, and most likely starve to death before it gets too big.

We are sorry for that, we honestly were not trying to make you feel dumb. We all have made a big mistake or two in our life. One important lesson you can learn is to never trust a LFS unless you now them really realy well, sadly a lot of them will lie just to make a sale. If you have have a question about if a type of fish/coral/invert is going to do well in a tank alwasy ask fellow reefers first.
