plumbing in new pump, have a section of silicone 1" tubing connecting to barbs, have some plastic compression rings but thinking stainless steel hose clamp may be better choice, any feedback on either

With hose barbs out of the water, I prefer the metal c clamps (hose clamps). In the water, I use the plastic ones if possible.

Both are above water line, my fear is if clamp cracks could hose pop off. Silicone is much softener than vinyl so slides on and off with ease

I would use the metal ones. Found they are better if properly placed. Just make sure to not over tighten. I have never had a metal one crack in over 15yrs of using them. The plastic ones that I use underwater have a tendency to slip off sometimes. They are hard to get right. At least the ones I have used.
