As long as you replace any metal fittings with plastic, yes.

I assume the same goes for the basic water hose we could get from home depot?

Yes I use the same hose with no problems but I did change all metal over to plastic

depending on cost, I might just go with braided vinyl, but I hate trying to uncurve that stuff when it's new.
