Hospital tanks

So. Set up a hospital tank or qt Los said to put a sponge filter in it but nothing else. No rock no sand. Just soak the sponge in my fudge for two weeks to get bacteria. But not to put rock or sand in qt with copper. Y

Yes the copper will kill everything but the fish

So y soak sponge in fuge. And do u not feed in qt for two weeks. How do u keep ammonia down

Yes, you could either put the sponge in the refugium or simply run the HOB filter on your DT to "seed" the sponge with beneficial bacteria. You don't want or need rock/sand in a hospital tank. Put some pipe pieces in there for the fish to hide.

The bacteria in the sponge.....and keep excess phosphates and nitrates down with water changes.
